Preparation for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is normally begun in the Second Grade. The fee for each Sacrament is $20 to cover books and supplies; and will be collected at the first parent meeting. Parents play a vital role in the preparation of their children for these two Sacraments. Both programs require Parent and/or student meetings. Both Sacraments will be taught in the classroom. A Family Guide will be distributed at the first parent meeting for use at home. It is expected that parents will complete the family sessions each week. First Eucharist preparation includes a retreat experience for the candidate and parents. The tentative schedule for these two Sacraments includes:

  • November 14, 2007 - Parent Meeting 6:30 pm in church.
  • January 9, 2008 - Parent/Student Meeting 6:30 pm in church.
  • January 16, 2008 – First Reconciliation Celebration 6:30pm in church.
  • January 23, 2008 - Second Celebration (if needed)
  • February 10, 2008 – First Eucharist Parent/Student Meeting 9:30-10:15am in lower
level of church, with Enrollment Ceremony at 10:30 am Mass.
  • March 8, 2008 – First Eucharist Retreat 9am-noon in Kaudy Hall.

First Eucharist celebrations will be scheduled at a later date and may be different than in previous years. Information pertaining to the celebrations will be distributed at the Parent Meeting.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is generally celebrated in the fall of the twelfth grade. The fee for this Sacrament is $50 which will assist in paying for materials and the retreat fee. This fee will be collected at the first parent/candidate meeting. Immediate preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation typically begins in the eleventh grade; however, adequate completion of ninth and tenth grade Faith Formation is a pre-requisite to prepare to receive the Sacrament. Student preparation for the sacrament is a process that includes information, discernment, community and parish involvement, and reflection and prayer. Without proper instruction, a young adult cannot make an informed decision regarding this sacrament. It is within the discretion of the program coordinator to request that a student attend additional classes if they have not had a sufficient background in a formal faith formation program; which may cause a delay in the reception of this most important sacrament.

  • October 17, 2007 – Parent/Student Confirmation Meeting 6:30-8pm in Church.
  • October 21, 2007 – Confirmation Enrollment Ceremony 10:30 am Mass
  • May 17-18, 2008 – Required Retreat at Mount Tabor Center in Menasha (if you cannot attend the complete retreat, you will have to make arrangements to attend a different retreat sponsored by another parish.)

Confirmation Practice will be the Saturday before Confirmation; and the Celebration of Confirmation will be announced when we receive word from the Bishop that he is available.
